Cosmetic surgery: disappointed with the result?
After cosmetic surgery, sometimes a patient can be dissatisfied and thinks that the surgery looks unnatural, too obvious or just plain ugly.

Although everything went well - the consultation was clear, the operation straight-forward and there were no postoperative complications - she's disappointed with the results, which are not at all what she was expecting.
A good cosmetic surgery result is subjective
Judging the outcome of an operation can be quite subjective. Some patients are happy with a slight improvement while others demand perfection.
At the outset, the patient and surgeon need to be very clear about the end goal. Sometimes the promise of unrealistic results can seduce a woman into having surgery, so the surgeon needs to be very clear about what surgery can achieve.
Technical or judgement errors?
If there was adequate preparation prior to surgery, it could be that the blame lies with the surgeon due to a technical error or an error of judgement.
- An error of judgement: This is often due to poor strategic choice and perhaps the surgeon has simply not chosen the right method to correct the defect.
- A technical error: There are two types of technical errors: either the surgeon has used a technique that is known to be ineffective or he has chosen the right technique but has made an error during the operation. Most of the time, if something goes wrong it's because of a mistake made during surgery.
In the case of an error of judgement, you should question the credentials of the surgeon as often such errors result from a lack of competence. In other more extreme cases, a surgeon may have deliberately chosen the wrong technique just keep the patient happy. In other words, he wanted to operate whatever, the end result.
Most bad luck can be blamed on technical errors and errors of judgement; the cause of the vast majority of poor cosmetic surgery results. If the patient and surgeon don't reach an amicable agreement, the case usually ends up in court with the patient seeking financial compensation.
