Keeping your hands silky soft over the cold winter months, or simply enhancing their beauty requires a few dedicated minutes a day. Follow our advice to make sure you have the hands of a princess this winter.
Caring for the hands’ fragile skin
The skin on your hands is extremely thin and fragile. Naturally dry, it contains few sebaceous glands, which would normally encourage the production of a natural protective film over your skin.
Made more vulnerable by the weak synthesis of naturally hydrating substances (4 to 5 times less than those found on the face), the skin on your hands needs care that’s capable of compensating for this loss all the time which will stop the acceleration of your hands’ ageing.
Moisturising creams succeed in this task thanks to their rich content in active hydrating agents. These creams have strong doses of substances with moisturising active principles; allantoin and glycerine, which leave a protective film on the surface of the skin; emollients such as the plants mallow and marshmallow; hydrating agents such as urea; protective silicon oil and lemon extracts to refine the skin.
Used daily, these ingredients give skin back its natural suppleness and softness, leaving your hands velvety smooth.
Beautiful hands while you sleep
Following the example of paraffin baths offered in health spas, recreate your own paraffin based hand care with paraffin oil, wheat oil and sweet almond oil. These replenishing oils will transform your ravaged hands into the hands of a princess overnight.
Strongly advised for dry, dehydrated skin or when cuticles are damaged, this regenerating treatment leaves your skin with a feeling of comfort and lightness. Your hands’ skins will be more pliable, luminous and revitalised.
- A first step to beautiful hands is to wash them with a moisturiser-enriched soap for dry skin, such as Dove, and dry them gently with a soft cloth.
- After this, coat your hands with oil and massage the fingers until it is totally absorbed. Get the most out of this by massaging the joints and cuticles as well.
- Finish the routine by slipping on a pair of cotton gloves. You can find these in the beauty sections of big supermarkets or chemists. In the constant heat produced by the greenhouse effect of the gloves, your hands absorb the hydrating oil deeply and when morning breaks, you will notice surprising results.
- Apply a moisturising cream to complete your hands’ beauty routine.
